It's interesting to think of it this way: our frames keep us cursed and, unlike Karna, many of us actually have the option of countering the curse if we are only mindful enough.
I love how you have phrased it. CP and I were talking about this and she brought up a great point - that the curse was that he would forget it when he needed it the most. Through his life he fought many talented warriors, and the curse didn't activate. So it is Karna himself who decided that this was the most important, and therefore it was the one fight that he forget everything at. In a way - he manifested his own curse on the battlefield that day.
